Garden Progress for 2009

March--still cold, no green, sigh. The garden should have been tilled last fall,
but of course, it didn't get done!

Here it is, greened up in May! This is only the first pass through with the tiller.

My Concord grapes in March.

And now in June--greened up, and pruned!

This mulch pile was only started last summer, and hasn't amounted to much yet.

The poor, poor strawberry beds spring.

And now, in June! Last year I let the plants run and rooted several new ones.
This year, I will only allow runners to fill in bare spots.

Strawberries are coming!

In a new experiment this year, I have planted potatoes in two barrels. The one n the left was started in April,
and the one on the right was started in May. The theory is, plant them deep in a barrel, and keep adding dirt as they grow.
We'll see what we get!

Ohh! Look what the difference a week of spotty rain and warm temps can do!

My raspberry plants are coming along nicely.

I planted some yellow beans in a pot--they are coming up! The seedling next to the bean seedling is a radish. I like to spread them around.

My strawberries are plumping up!
